Jezebel: Queen of Deception

1 Kings 21:7-10 "And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. And she wrote the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high above the people: And set two men, Son's of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die."

Jezebel is the instigator of a complex plot to get Naboth's vineyard. Her mind worked in such a way that she could think of a way to deceive a lot of people to get what she wanted. Jezebels act of deception ended in the death of an innocent man.

Now, it's unlikely that anyone reading this has ever been the mastermind of an intricate act of deception against a lot of people, but that's not the only kind of deception. There's just every-day, let-your-younger-siblings-think-something-that's-not-true deception.

Psalms 38:12 says, "They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long." So the people who want to kill him (murderers), are compared to the people are deceptive.

Jezebel thought that she would get away with her deceit, but she forgot about the one person she couldn't deceive: God. God told Jezebel through the prophet Elijah that she would not get away with her sin (see I Kings 21:23). As we know, Jezebel's life did not end well.
