And that Night they Caught Nothing

"There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." -John 21:3-6 3. Peter didn't catch any fish until He was again Following Jesus     Peter caught nothing. His friends caught nothing. Until they did what Jesus said! Here is the most important point of the three; You will get nowhere in life if you are not doing what Jesus says! But when you do...

We Also Go with Thee

"There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." -John 21:3-6- 2. Others Followed Peter in his Choices     When Peter decided he was going fishing, his friends said, "We also go with thee". Special note to those with Leadership Qualities and/or Abilities: The choices you make as a leader will have a great effect on those who follow you...

I Go a Fishing

"There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing . They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." -John 21:3-6-      Peter was obviously a leader amongst the disciples. He was often the first to act or speak(often without thinking!). Here he is shown after Jesus' death. It seems that Peter didn't exactly know what to do next, since Jesus wasn't there to follow. So, he simply went bac...

Christians Can't have Fun???

I spent the afternoons of August 31st and September 1st filming The Return of Lester Holmes (which is coming SOON by the way!) with some of my best friends. I had a great time, and I think everyone else did too. I've heard some people say that Christians cannot have fun. This is totally, completely and altogether false! When you spend time with other Christians, good, clean fun is not hard to come by. Don't believe the lie that you have to sin to have fun! No one has to go outside of God's will to 'have fun'. Life will not always be easy, but any sin or anything outside of God's will for your life will leave you miserable! It might seem fun for a moment, but the fun will soon be gone, and it will leave you empty and unhappy.      Anyone who watches some of the bloopers from that weekend would realize very quickly- we were all enjoying being with each other and laughing with each other. I present to anyone who claims Christians cannot have fun, those v...

That Which is Good

"... but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil." Romans 16:19     Wise unto that which is good. Study the Bible- knowing God's Word will help you now God. Wise unto that which is good. You should have loads of information about good things. God- know as much about God as you can. Know what He is, who He is, what He's done for you. Study the promises He's made to you.  Study the Bible- the History, the commands, everything that is in there is something that God wants you to know.       Being wise unto that which is good will help you to not sin. Psalms 119:11 says, "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee." In order to keep ourselves free from me sin, we must fill our minds with good things. Not just things that 'aren't bad' but also things that are good. Verses we have memorized will come to mind when you are tempted. When faced with a difficult situation you will remember ...

How do I Know the Bible is True?

This months devotional comes from Bro David Kidd from Heritage Baptist Church in Palmyra, N.Y.  A simple question that stumps many Christians is, How do you know the Bible is true?  Answers like, Because it is the Word of God, or, Because it is without error, or, Because it has endured thousands of years, are not adequate.  Such arguments are circular reasoning, or appeals to authority, both of which are logical fallacies.  Here are a few good reasons how we know the Bible is true which do not just appeal to the Bible as evidence of its own truthfulness.   1) Archaeological evidence:  24,000 archaeological discoveries that relate to people, places or events in the Bible have been uncovered. None of them are inconsistent with what the Bible says and all corroborate the biblical record.    2) Historical context: The Bible contains actual histories of real people and places and is even  used by unbelieving scholars as a reference to histori...
