And he shall be called Wonderful, Counselor,   Mighty God,                                       Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace                                                                 Emmanuel- God with us.                                                                         Jesus

The Shepherds: Proclaiming the News

Image
The shepherds saw the baby Jesus- and they were thrilled. They had to tell people! They knew some wonderful news, and they had to share it!  When you get 100% on a test in your worst subject, do you let your mom know? When your favorite sports team wins a championship, do you want to talk about it to people? When you have great news, do you hide it, or do you tell anyone who will listen? Well, as Christians, we have the best news in the world! We have the news that God sent His only Son to earth to be a sacrifice for us! He came to take our sins away- how can we not tell everyone we meet about this great news? This Christmas- and every other day of the year- we should all take the time to look around and find someone who doesn't know why they're celebrating. Christmas shopping is a great opportunity to hand out tracts! Christmas is an easy time to start conversations with complete strangers, and a cheerful "Merry Christmas!" goes well with the gift of a tract. Inste...

Mary & Joseph: Prepared for the Plan

Image
Mary- we know her as the mother of Jesus, the wife of Joseph, and a willing servant of God. The Angel of the Lord greeted her as “Thou highly favored one.” Joseph- we know him as the earthly father of Jesus, a carpenter, and a descendant of David. But what would have happened if Mary and Joseph hadn’t been ready to be these things? These days teenagers waste their time on things that could hardly be called preparation for life. If the Lord were right now looking for a girl who he could call on to be the mother of his son, who would he choose? Would he choose the girl who spends all her time styling her hair and doing her make-up, or would he choose the girl who spends her time volunteering at church and serving in ministry? If he was looking for a man to be the earthly father of Jesus, who would he choose? Would he choose the guy who spends all his time watching YouTube videos and sports, or the guy who helps his Pastor with church maintenance and spends time learning from his y...

Ceasar: An Unwilling Servant

Image
“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed…and all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, into the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary, his espoused wife, being great with child.” The Gospel of Luke tells us that Caesar made a decree which caused Joseph to take Mary to Bethlehem, and of course, that is where Jesus was born. When Caesar made that decree, I’m sure he was not thinking “Yes, this will be perfect timing to fulfill Micah’s prophecy about the coming Messiah.” No, he was thinking “Money, money, money! Money for my Empire! Get me more money !”  God can use whoever he wants, whenever he wants. Whether or not you want what God wants to happen- it’s going to happen. God can use you whether you are serving Him or not....
