Do your Best- in Everything

Just do something. It doesn't have to be extravagant, impressive, big, or fancy. It just has to be what God wants you to do. It could be writing a book, or it could be cleaning the church. It could be preaching a sermon, singing a solo, or it could be entertaining kids while their parents talk. Doing your best doesn't always mean doing the most impressive thing out there. Doing your best means doing what you can do, with the ability God has given you, the very best that you can. Do your best when you serve at church, when you do your devotions, when you pray, when you help your parents or siblings with small things around the house. “I am only one. But I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” -Edward Everett Hale     God won't ask us to do something that we can't do. He will provide us with the ability and resources to do what He wants us to do. We jus...

1 Year of TEEN CHALLENGE

What would happen if every Christian teenager was Challenged to do their best for God, and then did it? This is the question I wanted an answer to. I have gotten some very good answers. The video placed below has some of them in it, and others are posted below. I will post the full answers of the men who answered my question later this month.  As TEEN CHALLENGE enters its second year of existence, I would like to focus on this: Use what God has given you. Use everything He has given you, no matter how much or how little. Live your life with the intent of serving God. Make it your purpose for living. No matter what we accomplish in life, it means nothing if it is not for God. Make your life matter. "If every Christian teenager was challenged to do their best for God and did it... A generation would rise up like Enoch walking with God; like Samuel, hearing from God as a youth; like David, after God's own heart; like Isaiah, seeing the Lord high and lifted up; like Jeremiah, weep...

God Doesn't Want Your Best

This month's devotional comes from Mr. Jack Walter from Clays Mills Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. Psalm 39:5 "Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily, every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah."  There are many different lessons that we can learn from this verse, but today I want to focus on the last phrase- "...verily, every man at his best state is altogether vanity..." Vanity is defined as worthless or empty. In other words, the Psalmist is saying that when a man is at his best, he is worthless or empty. This may surprise you, young person, but God doesn't want your best. Now, when you read that you might say, "Hold on a minute. God tells us in the Bible to give Him our best." It is true that God tells us to give our best, but it is always in relation to things. In Exodus, we find the children of Israel are commanded to give their best oil, wine, and gifts. In Leviticus, t...
