We Also Go with Thee
"There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes."
-John 21:3-6-
2. Others Followed Peter in his Choices
When Peter decided he was going fishing, his friends said, "We also go with thee". Special note to those with Leadership Qualities and/or Abilities: The choices you make as a leader will have a great effect on those who follow you. Choose wisely. I have heard stories (and experienced one of myself) of how one person will walk by a bee's nest and stir it up- but they won't get stung. The people behind them, however, don't fare so well. The first person's choice to walk by the nest causes everyone following them to suffer. (Not that walking by a bee's nest is a sin haha) Peter decided to go back to what he knew, and several of his friends followed along. Like Peter, they had instruction of what they were supposed to be doing- and it wasn't fishing for fish.
So, they followed Peter and had a completely unproductive night. They spent the whole night working and got nothing done. And they weren't even doing the work they were supposed to.
People will follow you on your choices. Perhaps one of your friends is willing to do the right thing- they're scared though. They need someone to push them in the right direction. So you do the right thing and that's enough encouragement and they follow your lead. Or you do the wrong thing and they do nothing, or they do the wrong thing. No matter if you realize it or not, the choices you make effect those around you. Next time you make a choice, filter it through this question: Would it be good if I did this and my friends said "we also go with thee"?
