Where Did you get That?

Sometimes little kids say crazy stuff- you know, something that makes everyone laugh super hard until someone manages to stop long enough to gasp out, "where did you get that from?". And the answer usually makes everyone laugh again, because their source was unreliable. It could have been a 4-year-old, or a kid's book, or a cartoon. We do this as teenagers too. No, I don't think that you get your beliefs from cartoons. But sometimes we get our ideas from the world- a highly unreliable source.

When Pastor Jerry Ross was preaching at Empowered Youth, he was talking about how we sometimes find these gray areas where we say the Bible doesn't say we can't...so we can. But where did you get that from? When girls want to change their dress standards, they didn't get that from church. When guys want to change their hairstyle, they didn't get that from their Pastor. Examine the ideas of what you want to do and determine where you got them from. Did those ideas come from the world, or from Jesus?
