Blessed be the Lord

"Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah."
Psalm 68:19

We are loaded with benefits! We deserve nothing, and we are given so much! I think that when we're asked if we have anything "we would like to praise God for" in church or anywhere else, we ought to have an answer immediately. We are so used to the things that God gives us every day that we become ungrateful without even realizing it. When was the last time that you just took a few minutes to thank God for a house to live in, fresh air to breath, food to eat, or your shoes?
"Blessed be the Lord." We ought to give praise and glory to God every day. "I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Psalm 34:1.
"O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon His name: make known his deeds among the people." Psalm 105:1. We are to praise the Lord not only in our private prayers, but also to others. Doing this will encourage other believers, and it shows unsaved people how wonderful God is. The love of God is the kind of love that gives and expects nothing in return. And to the world that kind of love is unbelievable.
So how can we praise God? "Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18. Praise God through your prayers. When Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray in Matthew 6, His prayer began with praise. Psalms 13:6 says "I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me." Sing your praise to the Lord. We are commanded to sing our praise to God over and over in the Psalms. Sing throughout your day- if you think you sound bad, don't worry; your praise will sound beautiful to God!
Praising the Lord will not only please Him; it will make you happier, too. This week take some time to remember that everything you have, no matter how small it may seem, is a gift from God. Take the time to thank Him and praise Him for all He has done. It will surprise you how much singing a song of praise can fill you with joy!

  1. I have been praising the Lord today, because the weather is beautiful, I had a very beneficial time reading my Bible, and I was able to accomplish several things! The Lord is so very gracious to us!
I also noticed that when I praise God, it is harder to be annoyed by people around me. Hopefully that will be a good testimony, too. :)

  2. Great stuff, Megan! It's so easy to fall into the trap of taking things for granted. We literally breath the very blessings of God each and every day! God is so extremely good to us that we get "USED" to it. May God help us stay grateful! It was GREAT spending time with you family today! See you tonight at church!
