No Other Foundation

 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

1 Corinthians 3:11

    In 1804 Edward Mote wrote these words:

My hope is built on nothing less

than Jesus' blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

but wholly lean on Jesus' name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:

all other ground is sinking sand;

all other ground is sinking sand.

    What are you trying to build your life on? This verse tells us that no one can lay any foundation- there is already one in place. You can choose to build on the foundation- Jesus Christ- or you can build your life without a foundation. The song says, "All other ground is sinking sand". That doesn't seem like a foundation to me. If you build your life on money, possessions, people, or anything except Jesus, your life is not going to turn out well. 

    I have seen a lot of people in my life that have tried to build their lives on their own- and they fail. They turn to the worlds methods to cope with their failures. I've seen many people thrown out of their homes because they can't pay the rent. They spent all their money on drugs, alcohol, and possessions, trying to fill the void that they feel. But the empty feeling only grows bigger because they don't have the one thing they actually need. These people have never realized that they are building their lives without a foundation. Without a foundation nothing will stand long. 

    The only thing that you can build your life on is Jesus. There is no other foundation. Everything else will fail you. Jesus will never fail you. He is not a foundation- He is the Foundation. Nothing else you try will work. Spare yourself the sadness and failure and try Jesus first. Life won't be perfect, but it will be blessed by God.
