What Do you Want?

"Do not wait, the time will never be 'just right'. Start where you stand."

What do you want in your life? What do you want to be good at? What do you want to be like? Think of one thing that you really want to do, or something you really want to change about yourself. Now ask yourself this question; what am I doing to accomplish that?

If you're not working on it, it's never going to happen. That dream will never become reality unless you work towards it. Sitting and thinking about a goal isn't going to make it come true. If you want to play an instrument, practice. If you want to have a better prayer life, pray. If you want to be fit, work out. If you want to get good grades, study. If you want to know the Bible, read it. Whatever you want to do, work for it, strive for it.

What do you want to do to prepare for life? Do you want to know how to take care of a home, handle money, be a good parent, a good employee, and a multitude of other things that come with becoming an adult? Start leaning and preparing now. Put down your novel, your video game, and your phone. Turn off the TV, shut down the useless noise, and get serious about preparing for life. That's not to say that we can't have fun and be teenagers- but how can we expect to serve God if we start life totally unprepared? You can't just flip a switch on your 18th birthday and know how to handle life. We must prepare now. Take advantage of the years you are given to prepare to serve God with your life in the very best way that you can.

  1. Amen.
This made me think of "The teenage years of Jesus Christ" by Mr. Jerry Ross. He noted that at the age of 12, Jesus obeyed His "earthly parents" and increased in wisdom and stature. People expect teenagers to be immature, but it shouldn't be that way as Christians. We shouldn't wait until we're grown up to "be what Jesus wants us to be."
