You've got to get out of the Boat
"And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus."
Matthew 14:25-29
Peter saw Jesus walking on the water and wanted to go to Him. He wanted Jesus to do a miracle for him. He wanted a great work to happen in his life. He believed Jesus could make it happen. Peter knew for a fact that Jesus could make him walk on water. But would he? Peter had no way of being sure if he would actually stay on top of the water until he stepped out of the boat. Jesus said to come- he wanted Peter to step out in faith, trusting Him. Sometimes we don't know what is going to happen when we step out in faith. We simply have to trust that God is in control and what is best will happen.
Some people would call this blind faith. How can you believe that? How do you know He can do it? Has God ever let you down before? Hasn't He done other great, powerful things for you in the past? Besides personal experiences there are stories of other believers, and miracles from the Bible to encourage our faith. God can work. But will He? In Matthew 8 a man came to Jesus and said "Lord, if thou wilt", and Jesus responded with "I will".
"Believe ye that I am able to do this?" Jesus asked two blind men. They answered "Yea, Lord." And He healed them, and said, "According to your faith be it unto you". If you ask Jesus to do something, and you believe He CAN do it; call on His name, step out of the boat, and watch in wonder as He works out His plan and you walk on the water.
