I'm Confused!
I have been working at a grocery store as a cashier for about 10 months. In this time, I have seen hundreds of different people with hundreds of different views and ideas. I've had coworkers who are agnostics, customers that are Catholic, and all different people who don't know what they believe. I have seen people from different backgrounds, different religions, and different countries.
Each of the people I have seen believes something. Something that they believe to be truth. Sometimes they are very open about it, and sometimes they don't mention it at all. Sometimes their actions show what they believe. Some of the people I have seen wear shirts that proudly proclaim that they are against abortion, and they are willing to fight against it. Others wear jewelry that tells others that they are part of the LGBTQ+ "community", and they believe that it is acceptable. So, as we see all these people in the world who are telling us all these different things are true, how do we know what to believe and what is true? Sometimes we might look around at the world and all its ideas and say, "I'm confused!"
So how can we know what we believe, and be firm enough in that belief that we don't get confused by the world's ideas? How do we keep from being shaken from our beliefs? We need to study and find what God's Word says about right and wrong. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”. In order to be ready to answer how we know what is wrong and why it is wrong, we must study and learn the truth well. 2 Timothy 1:12 says "...for I know whom I am believed...". In order for us to know we must learn.
What is confusing you? What false ideas are people trying to convince you are true? What sins are they trying to make you ok with? Are your coworkers using words that are dishonouring to God? Are they taking His name in vain? Exodus 20:17 says not to take the name of the Lord in vain. God's name is holy and should never be used in a flippant or direspectful way. Are people trying to get you to accept "families" that are not according to Gods design? In Genesis 2:24 and Ephesians 5:25 it talks about marriage between one man and one woman. God created the first man, and then created the first woman as a helpmeet for him.
If you are confused, study and search for answers. Find out why you believe what you do. Be ready to give an answer with meekness. Lovingly, but firmly stand up for your beliefs. Show the world your Saviour- "the hope that is in you"!
Amen! 💡 be the light

ReplyDeleteBut if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
1 Peter 1:14b "not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance"
ReplyDeleteThey are confused because they are ignorant. They need the Saviour!
So much confusion in our world these days!
ReplyDelete"For God is not the author of confusion..."
Great devotion, Megan!
