No Doubt

"Let your Christianity be so unmistakable, your eye so single, your heart so whole, your walk so straightforward, that all those who see you may have no doubt whose you are and whom you serve."

-unknown

How obvious is your Christianity? Is it noticeable throughout your entire life? Today I have a few thoughts on some areas we might consider how we can make our faith more noticeable.

1. Your Christianity so Unmistakable

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;" 1 Peter 2:9 Recently one of my coworkers asked me about something I did. I asked, "what's wrong with it?". "Nothing," he answered. "It's just- different." We are called to be a peculiar people. If the world doesn't find us strange, there's an issue. They should wonder how we have strong families, unified churches, and joyful lives. I'm discovering that many people in the world that are around my age don't even know what a Christian is, which means that it's even more important that we show them.

2. Your Eye so Single

"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes, I hate the work of them that turn aside, it shall not cleave to me" Psalm 101:3. Is what we are looking at making our Christianity obvious? Things you look at, watch, and read are all areas that need to be examined. Not only what you shouldn't, but what you should see. You should be reading your Bible and other good books, because what goes in comes out!

3. Your Walk so Straightforward

If you want to walk in a straight line, what's the best way to do it? You pick one object straight ahead and keep your eyes on it. If we want to walk straight in God's ways, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus (back to what we're looking at!). Straightforward is defined as free from evasiveness or proceeding in a straight course or manner. We shouldn't try to avoid God's commands or His will for our lives. Detours will only leave you lost and frustrated...don't try to go your own route. Just follow Jesus, walk with Him, and He'll take you the best way.

The way we act should leave no doubt in people's minds that we are Christians. We are acting like Christ. James says "I will shew thee my faith by my works". We need to walk as Christ walked, not just talk about Him and then go do whatever we want to. It's time to let the world know who we are and who we serve- let's leave no doubt; we are Christians.

  1. Good stuff Megan, in a world where everyone wants to stand out in all the WRONG ways, we need some young people who will stand out in all the RIGHT ways!
