Driving Blind
Tonight on the way home there was bad snow and wind. The roads hadn't been plowed, and it was very dark. On a particularly dark section of the road I started thinking how thankful I was for my headlights. When we got to town I thought maybe I could get by without my lights. But we don't live in town and I knew I would never make it home without my lights. I'd have crashed driving blind.
Then, as I continued to drive home at 25 mph I had another thought. If I won't drive blind on the roads and risk my physical life, what in the world am I doing driving blind and risking my spiritual life?
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path". We need our spiritual headlights! Every day we need to be in our Bibles and memorizing Scripture. Because maybe you'll be fine while you're at church hearing preaching, in your house with Bible verses, and everywhere were there's spiritual light, but someday you'll come to a dark section of road. Someday you'll have a job and there won't be any spiritual light. You'll go to other places where there will be darkness all about you. You will be in a world where you'll need your headlights. And if you don't have them, you will crash.
Don't forget to turn your lights on. Use them in town so that they will be on when you get to the dark spots. Never go a day without them, because crashes can be small, or they can be fatal. So do you're best to avoid them; use your lights and stop driving blind!
