Come When I Call

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

My Dad got me a puppy about a month ago, and I have my hands full trying to teach him how to behave. He's very smart and full of energy, but he has almost no attention span. It's hard work just to keep him around to teach him anything. But once he learned "Barney come" meant that I want him to come to me, things got a lot easier. Once I could get him near me, it was much easier to teach him. I mean, it's hard to teach a puppy how to sit when he's bouncing around thirty feet from you!

It's the same way with us and God. We want Him to teach us, He wants to teach us. But we need to learn to come first! If we're bouncing around doing our own thing far away from God, there's no way we're going to learn anything. If I want Gd to teach me, I need to learn that "Megan come" means that He wants me to come to Him so that He can teach me!

The closer you are to God, the easier it is to learn from Him, to hear from Him. Come when He calls and He'll teach you what He wants you to know. He will give you rest and He will teach you how to live. Don't forget to listen close for the call!
