But I'm Right!
Last night I had a little bit of a disagreement with a friend of mine. It only lasted about a minute, and less than five minutes later there were apologies. I wasn't bothered by the fact that we disagreed, because I believe that I didn't say anything wrong. I was correct in what I said. My problem was the way I said it.
After the whole thing was over, I was talking to my other friend who'd been standing next to me and knew what had happened. "That's my problem!" I sighed. "I can be completely right and then I'm snooty about it."
No matter how right we are, it doesn't give us a right to be rude or haughty about it. Having the right attitude is just as important. When Jesus was on earth He never acted like a know it all (even though He literally knew it ALL) or rubbed things in people's faces. He was always kind and acted with humility.
We all are going to have those moments where we are simply in the right. But we have to remember to handle those moments with the same humility that we do the ones where we are wrong. Act as Jesus acted, humble and kind. Next time you're thinking, "but I'm right!". Remember that Jesus was always right, and act as He would have.
Matthew 12:36 "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement."
