What's Inside?

The past couple of days I've been dealing with some pain from one of my wisdom teeth. It hasn't been fun, but this afternoon I started thinking about it and here are some thoughts for you that I hope are helpful.

In our Christian lives sometimes we will have problems, but we're not sure why. We don't know where it's coming from or why it's happening. I have three points about how to fix problems like these.

    1. Look Inside

When I got to church this morning and wasn't talking because of the pain involves in moving my jaw, my best friend started looking at my face from multiple angles to see if my face was swollen and it wasn't. From the outside, it didn't really look like I should be in pain. It didn't look like I was in pain. But when my sister looked inside my mouth this afternoon, she spotted the problem right away. The Bible says "... for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." If we are going to find problems we need to look inside our hearts and examine them, because the problem will not always be visible on the outside.

2. Get Looked at by a Professional

My mom and dad both looked at my tooth when I mentioned the pain, and they knew the basic problem; my tooth. But when my sister, who's a hygienist, looked at my tooth, she was able to tell us more details about why it was so painful. When you're trying to solve a spiritual problem in your life, go to someone you know can help you. Go to your Pastor, parents, or another spiritual leader in your life. They will be able to spot problems far more clearly and quickly than you will be.

3. Search for a Solution

My sister's advice to me was to get the tooth pulled as quickly as possible, before it gets worse. If you have a problem, the wise thing to do is to quickly solve it. Take steps to solve it. Nothing's going to change if you don't take action, just like I'll never get my mouth fixed if we don't call the dentist. You've got to get up and do something about it.

Well, there's the thoughts for the day. If next week's post has any really stupid advice in it, it's because my wisdom teeth all got yanked out and I have no more smart๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜‚
