Why Don't You Get Involved?

"It is good for man that he bear the yoke in his youth"

Leviticus 3:27

On a scale of one to ten, how involved would you say you are in your church?  I know that not every church has a lot of ministry opportunities, but every church needs to be cleaned. Today in his sermon my Pastor said to "dedicate your life the body Christ died for; the church." There are so many places to be involved in a church. Music ministry, children's ministries, outreach, the list goes on. I'm involved in the music ministry at my church, I work in the nursery, and my mom and I clean bathrooms together. I have friends who work in the nursery, clean the church, and work in the media ministry.

You might say, "well, I definitely can't sing in church, and I don't know anything about websites, and we don't even have a children's church". Well, there's still things that you can do! Every Sunday morning the young adult guys get to church a little early. They stand in the doorway of the church and open the doors for people. They park the cars for the ladies. Can you walk around and talk to the elderly before service? Give them a handshake or a hug to brighten their day?

Leviticus 3:27 reminds us that is good to "bear the yoke" in our youth. If we teens don't start singing in the choir now, who will be there to sing in it in 30 years? If we don't learn how to teach classes for kids now, what will happen in 10 years when the teacher wants to retire cause they "just can't take them 7th graders no more"? It is important that we learn these things now because we are the future of our churches, and we need to take that seriously. Dedicate your life to the body that Christ died for; the church.
